The Second Vatican Council was undoubtedly one of the most influential events in the life of the Church. The first effort of the Council was Sacrosanctum Concilium, the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, promulgated on December 4, 1963. This document was the result of the work of the Liturgical Movement--decades of liturgical scholarship, research, and renewal. Collected in this volume are liturgical documents related to the Liturgical Movement that led to the promulgation of the Constitution, post-Conciliar documents that implemented the Constitution, and documents that reflect on the post-Conciliar years of liturgical reform.
