Dagmar Dagmar Cross
For those of Danish heritage, the Dagmar cross is a popular gift for christenings, confirmations, and weddings.
Several hundred years before Denmark officially became a Christian country in 900 AD, missionaries came to preach about Christianity. They often brought crosses which they wore to show their new faith. The crosses were made of gold, silver or bronze. Many were placed in churches or buried with their owners. Of the few that survive today, one of the most elaborate and beautiful is known as the Dagmar Cross.
To this day, the cross is a popular gift for christenings, confirmations, and weddings in Denmark and around the world for those with Danish heritage. The ancient origin makes this cross truly a treasure for all Christians.
